Scholarship Opportunities

The NetTel@Africa Scholarship Programme provides promising practitioners from the private and public sector with tuition support to participate in the Post Graduate Diploma Programme in ICT Policy and Regulation that articulates with a Masters Degree with a specialization in ICT Policy and Regulation or ICT for Development. These Post Graduate Diploma Scholarships are awarded through an application review process managed by the NetTel@Africa Advisory Council. The number of scholarships is limited and dependent on availability of funding.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be residents of Botswana, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.
  • Applicants must be able to meet the admission requirements of the respective university.
  • Scholarships are offered to priority populations, which include:
    • Regulatory and policy maker staff at mid- and starting-levels and
    • Change advocates and aspiring entrepreneurs from the ICT/telecom private sector.
    • At least 40% female recipients.

Details of Award

  • Scholarships are based on the tuition fees of each individual university.
  • Allowable costs cover instructional fees, computer/Internet lab fees, and a book allowance.
  • Normally, students are expected to enroll in a minimum of 3 courses each semester and complete the Post-Graduate Diploma Programme within three semesters.
  • Continuation scholarship is dependent on performance and compliance with the rules of the respective university.
  • During and after participation in this program, the recipient of the award is expected to continue working for a period equal to or greater than the length of the award for the employer who provided the nomination. Otherwise, the recipient of the award is expected to renumerate the sponsor of the scholarship the full cost of the award.

How to Apply

You must be nominated by your employer by February 6, 2004. The nomination letter must be sent to the NetTel@Africa Coordinator of the respective university on official letterhead and signed by the CEO or equivalent.
