Fair Trade and Competition Policy

This module is the first in training programmes in ICT Markets and Industry. The objective is to enable participants to apply competition policy, including mergers and acquisitions, market dominance, discriminatory / predatory practices, and the options available to the sector regulator to deal with these infringements.

Module Learning Outcomes

At the completion of this module (Fair Trade and Competition Policy) the learner will be able to:

  • Apply a conceptual framework for competition
  • Describe the requirements for regulatory action in order to enable competition to develop
  • Apply this knowledge effectively in future regulatory decision-making
  • Plan the introduction of liberalisation with confidence
  • Establish the key factors for the successful development of effective competition
  • Recognise where action is necessary to promote and maintain effective competition
  • Recommend interventions for anti-competitive practices
