Course Learning Activities

At the end of each chapter/session there will be examples and exercises to be done as the learner goes through the course. Review questions and problems will be set at the end of each chapter. These will test the understanding of the whole chapter. Case studies will be set for chapters that have practical application. A case study may be set to solve issues studied in more than one module. Some of the case studies may require application of the knowledge studied in other courses. This is intended to give the learners the totality and linkage of issues studied in the programme. Specific learning activities for this course include the following:

Individual Learning Activities

(i) Learning exercise by summarizing an important reading in a module/session/chapter. Put it on the Website/discussion board and other students should comment on the summaries.

(ii) Discuss and present specific financial analysis issues of telecommunication companies and regulatory bodies (postgraduate students)

(iii) Structure discussion board interaction on current hot topics in ICT financial analysis.

Group Learning Activities

(i) Collect Financial Statements of the regulatory bodies and companies. Analyse, interpret and compare the financial statements.

(ii) Building a financial simulation module using both micro and macro variables - on Excel Spread Sheet.

It is important that a learner does all the learning activities, as they are part of the course assessment. A learner will only be allowed to sit for the final exam if she/he demonstrated the following:

  • Good understanding of all three modules covered in this course
  • Participation in all the learning activities.
  • Completing all the assignments and exercises assigned individually and in groups
  • Participation in the discussion boards
  • Passed the course work/continuous assessment with a B grade.
