Global Networks

CBDD leads international higher education and NGO alliances to strengthen effectiveness of higher education in addressing priority needs in the developing world. Over the past five years, the WSU Extension Center to Bridge the Digital Divide has forged meaningful higher education partnerships with over 40 higher education institutions around the globe to achieve our objectives. An example is an African led public, private and NGO alliance directly including collaboration of 21 African universities in 13 countries and supported by 5 U.S. universities. This success in Africa led to the CBDD competing successfully to receive a $12 million dollar agreement from the USAID to form a new global alliance project to rebuild Afghan higher education system. The CBDD's Global Networks projects provide opportunities for linkages to the university goal of world class student educational experience. For example, in 2006, three WSU students benefited from opportunities to apply skills learned in the classroom to create a successful cyber café in Rwanda directly impacting their own lives and the lives of people in that nation.
